This town, with its old and solid mercantile tradition and rich history, has a particular urban plan that blends harmoniously with the landscape.
Tradition and culture: In Valgardena the traces of a two thousand year history are still visible. “Ladin” is a Rhaeto-roman language that is still spoken and originated from a mix of latin, spoken by the Roman conquerors, and celtic (rhaetian), the language of the native inhabitants.
Promenades and walking trails start from the village and from here one may easily wander off into the woods in search of some old farm.
The cable cars starting from Ortisei take you directly into the skiing areas of the Alpe di Siusi, Rasciesa, Seceda and connect straightg to the Dolomiti Superski area.
