The altitude of 1,236 m above sea level makes of Ortisei the ideal place for winter and summer holidays. All uphill facilities start directly from the village.  An inviting pedestrian area, smart, alive and colourful, that is how Ortisei, the main village of Valgardena, presents itself.
Stroll along the lively pedestrian area and drop in for an aperitif or coffee brake. The picturesque village is a renowned meeting point and offers numerous shopping opportunities.

This town, with its old and solid mercantile tradition and rich history, has a particular urban plan that blends harmoniously with the landscape.

Tradition and culture: In Valgardena the traces of a two thousand year history are still visible. “Ladin” is a Rhaeto-roman language that is still spoken and originated from a mix of latin, spoken by the Roman conquerors, and celtic (rhaetian), the language of the native inhabitants.

Promenades and walking trails start from the village and from here one may easily wander off into the woods in search of some old farm.
The cable cars starting from Ortisei take you directly into the skiing areas of the Alpe di Siusi, Rasciesa, Seceda and connect straightg to the Dolomiti Superski area.
